Wickie's Elderberry Syrup

  • Elderberry, the dark blue/black fruit has traditionally been used as an effective natural fruit taken to reduce the effect of influenza, cold and flu symptoms. Clinical trials and research has been conducted on Elderberry syrup and the general conclusion is that it shows positive outcomes for decreasing fever, headache, and nasal congestion within 24 to 48 hours from taking elderberry extract. This product uses PEI Elderberries of the Farm Center's Legacy Farm in Charlottetown.

  •  Elderberries: immunostimulant and an antioxidant.
  •  Echinacea: a herb that helps to reduce cold symptoms and fight infections in the upper respiratory tract.
  • Ginger: commonly used to treat arthritis, muscle pain, upset stomach, gas, upper respiratory tract infections, and cough. Ginger is an anti-inflammatory, repair damaged joints, improves circulation, lowers blood sugar, heals nausea, antiseptic and has a positive effect on joints.
  •  Cinnamon: a herb that is known for its positive effect on the digestive system. Traditionally used in Ayurveda for bowel complaints, such as dyspepsia, flatulency, diarrhea, and vomiting. 
  • Raw Honey: is full of vitamins and minerals, anti-fungal, anti-viral and ascorbic acid (vitamin C), narcotic cough suppressant and throat soother. It is a natural fighter of all allergies, cold and flu.
  •  Licorice: traditionally used as a herbal medicine to help relieve chest pain and as an anti-inflammatory.
  • Directions: It is recommended to consume 15ml or 1 tablespoon a day for adults, and 5ml or ½ table spoon for children over the age of 2, as a preventative measure.
  • If one comes down with flu-like symptoms, it is highly recommended to take 1 table spoon every 2-3 hours.
  • Warnings: Consult your healthcare practitioner prior to use if you have chronic medical condition, or if you are taking immunosuppressants. Do not use if you are pregnant or nursing unless directed otherwise by your healthcare practitioner.
